Stickam users have been receiving an awful lot of spam lately. The webcam chat site says they are not sending the messages, but they are the source of the problem.

When asked about the barrage, Stickam released a statement from its chief executive, Steven Fruchter, saying that the spam was “a result of illegal hacking on an old community forum system, which is no longer used.”

No longer used? Then, why is it still there? It sounds like the forum fell into disuse and was forgotten about.

Are there any old, publicly-accessible services running on your site that you have forgotten about? If nobody is using them anymore, shut them down and save yourself a few security concerns.
